The aims of the workshop are:
- Address challenges across Space Quantum Technology domains
- Promote dialogue and close working between the main two communities. Enable physicists to appreciate space engineering processes and issues, and engineers to appreciate quantum system requirements
- Leverage experience from past & current missions in the early development or planning of future missions
Applications are invited from INSQT Members, non-members can also apply and will be accepted subject to availability, apply here. Please refer to this application guidance when applying! Accommodation will be provided for all attendees, there is some funding to support the attendance of INSQT members.
Q: How do I get to the Workshop location?
A: The Harwell Website contains detailed instructions on access from all modes of transport, to access the whole campus. This is a government site, so attendees will need to report firstly to the main RAL Reception, building R75 with photo ID.
From the A34 northbound:
Exit the A34 at the Chilton junction and take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A4185. At the next roundabout, take the first exit to the Fermi Entrance.
From the A34 southbound:
Exit the A34 at the Chilton junction and take the second exit at the roundabout. At the next roundabout, take the third exit onto the A4185. Continue straight on the A4185 and at the next roundabout, take the first exit to the Fermi Entrance.
The M4 motorway junction 13 is 9 miles away from the campus. The M40 junctions 8 and 9 are within a 30 minute drive.
From Fermi Ave, turn left down Road 6, opposite the Little Stars Nursery.
A campus map is linked here.
Q: If I’m driving, where can I park?
A: Those coming by car must park up first by reception to register, then drive to the visitor centre. Please find a campus map again here, indicating parking.
The main venues will be the lecture theatre, coffee lounge and visitor centre (as well as RAL Space R100 for tours), which are marked on the above map. The RAL canteen and the Costa are.
Q: Where will attendees be staying?
A: Attendees who requested accommodation will be staying at Courtyard by Marriott Oxford South
Reef Estate Hotels Limited
6 Milton Gate
(Reef Estate Hotels Limited, 6 Milton Gate, Milton, Abindon, Oxfordshire, OX14 4FP).
Q: If I would like my poster to be printed, where should I send the file?
A: Please send the file to RALSpace-Events@stfc.ac.uk with the subject ‘INSQT poster’ (or something similar)!
Q: Is it permissible to attend the workshop in person partially, if I cannot stay for the duration?
A: On each day we’d ideally need visitors to arrive on time. We will have enough staff to help escort visitors on site, and will try to have one additional person stationed at main reception to guide attendees arriving late, if arriving in your own car or by own arrangements. We are happy in principle for visitors to leave early, but it is likely you will have to make your own arrangements in this scenario; with enough notice we could have our Transport team available for nearby drop offs.
We are happy to reimburse travel via our expense claim procedure (which you will be made aware of at acceptance),which will allow for use of public transport.
If you will require a taxi that you would like us to book for you, you will need to provide advance notice, as locally it can be up to 1 hour wait.
Q: Do I need to bring anything with me?
A: Photo ID must be brought and kept on your person at all times.
Visitors will be given a name badge/lanyard – this must be worn at all times on site, every day (people often forget them at the hotel).
Q: Will there be Wifi?
A: Wifi will be available and guest instructions for connection provided!
